Stages to Recovery |

Once I have identified and begun working on your specific problem areas, you will begin to notice significant changes. Many patients report a lessening of pain and an increase in range of motion from the very first treatment. There will definitely be soreness, tenderness and swelling in areas where I am having to stretch and break up scar tissue accumulations. These accumulations may take more than one treatment, depending on their location and extent of development. By increasing your water intake, using cold therapy and stretching these areas, you will help maximize your own recovery and prevent further scar tissue deposits from forming. As your treatment progresses, I may start working in other areas that also have adhesions and scar tissue accumulations. Your body is a cohesive whole ─ every part affects every other part. My goal for you is to help your body achieve optimal functioning. Often problems have developed over years, so it may take time to bring your body back to a state of normalcy. Sometimes treatment will resurrect old aches and pains temporarily as your body obtains its new (and healthier) equilibrium. This is normal. Think of it as peeling back layers of an onion ─ we will be getting to the bottom of the problems, not just slapping a Band-aid on the top of them. It will be even more important as we progress that you start incorporating a regular stretching and exercise routine into your lifestyle to help develop longer, stronger muscle fibers to strengthen the areas previously bound by fascia and adhesions.
